Q: How does this process work?
A: It begins with a conversation. You tell us what you want. Do you just need (a) spreadsheet(s), or your data visualized in charts as well? Would you like us to analyze your data? Do you require specific colors or fonts?
Here we show the work we can do, using a fictional project about the Peanuts® gang selling boxes of cookies. It begins with a handwritten list, then moves to a spreadsheet, then to charts and graphs. We can also do an in-depth analysis of your data. You’ll find a complete example which analyzes the cookie box sales data here.
We prefer that your data be electronic (i.e. a Word document), but we can work with handwritten data, provided we can decipher your handwriting.
Along the way, we’ll email you drafts and modify them based on your feedback.
The job is not complete until you are 100% satisfied.
Q: After you build a spreadsheet, do you just hand it over when you have finished?
A: If we produce a one-time Excel spreadsheet, we’ll save it as an Adobe file, which is easier to print.
If we build a spreadsheet that requires regular updating, we’ll teach you how to maintain it.
If you’re not familiar with Excel, we can give you a tutorial.
Q: Will you fix an existing spreadsheet that’s a mess?
We will certainly try and have done so for past clients.
Q: How much do you charge?
A: Our favorite question. Not.
Having been the victims of bottomless pit hourly pricing, we prefer to give a fixed price up front. If the scope of the work changes significantly during the project, we’ll readjust.
We’ll execute a contract and can do that electronically. We require a 50% payment up front. The balance is due after the project is complete.
Some clients prefer to pay an hourly rate, and we can accommodate that as well.
Before our agreement is finalized, we’ll give you an estimate of your completion date.
Q: How can we pay you?
A: Cash, check, or Paypal.
Q: Can you incorporate my company’s logo into the spreadsheets you build?
A: Yes. We can also create a watermark for you.
Q: What if I only need Step Two and not Steps Three and Four?
A: That’s fine.
Q: How do I know that you won’t just take my deposit money and escape to Bora Bora?
A: It depends on the weather in Bora Bora. We’d more likely flee to Hawaii to avoid quarantine for Pretzel Marie and Ms. Chiff. Our satisfied customers should allay your fears.
Q: Do you handle rush jobs?
A: In general, no.
Q: Can I trust you to keep all my information confidential?
A: Absolutely. If you like, we can execute a Confidentiality Agreement.
Q: Can I contact the people who wrote your testimonials?
A: Yes.
